Data You Give Us Directly
Search Queries
A name or place entered in a search tool is sent directly to the outside provider operating that tool. The provider processes the query and supplies its results; search terms are not logged or retained by us.
Messages and Contact Submissions
Email messages may be retained to prepare a response. They remain within the organization unless disclosure is required by law.
Data We Gather Automatically
Loading a page causes the servers to receive standard technical details about the visit:
- The IP address assigned to your device
- Which browser you are using and its version
- Your device type and operating system
- The pages you visited and how long you stayed on each
- The site that sent you here, if any
- Timestamps for each page view
Cookies and Analytics
Cookies are small device files used to understand traffic patterns, including popular pages and exit points. Analytics providers combine that usage data. Browser controls can block cookies, though doing so may change how some features work.
What We Do With This Data
- Keeping the site up, running, and loading quickly
- Sending your search requests to the right partner service
- Figuring out which pages people find useful and which need work
- Tracking down and fixing technical issues
- Showing ads that may line up with your interests
No Criminal-Record Data on File
No database of personal criminal records is maintained, compiled, or sold here. The site describes how to reach San Juan Sheriff, the local courts, the Colorado Bureau of Investigation, and the Colorado Sex Offender Registry. It is not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act, and visitor information is never assembled into consumer reports or third-party criminal files.
Third-Party Search Partners
Outside companies operate the embedded search boxes. Their privacy policies govern submitted queries, and each provider controls its own retention and disclosure practices. Review those terms before running a search.
Links to Other Websites
Links to Sheriff pages, court portals, Colorado agencies, legal-aid groups, and search tools lead away from this site. The destination's privacy policy then controls the visit and should be reviewed before personal information is shared.
Certain advertising partners may track your activity across sites to show targeted ads. That tracking runs on their systems, not ours.
Who Might See Your Data
Personal data is not sold. Limited information may be available to:
- Search partners that handle queries you run on our site
- Analytics services we use to track traffic and performance
- Ad networks that place ads on our pages
- Law enforcement or government bodies when a valid legal order requires it
How We Protect Your Data
Standard safeguards protect collected information, but no internet system is perfectly secure. Reasonable precautions are used without guaranteeing that a breach can never occur.
Users Under 18
The site is intended for adults and does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone younger than 18. Data identified as belonging to a minor will be deleted.
Your Data Rights
The Colorado Privacy Act, C.R.S. § 6-1-1301 et seq., and the Colorado Consumer Protection Act, C.R.S. § 6-1-101 et seq., may provide additional rights when their coverage requirements apply. At a minimum, you can:
- Ask for a copy of what we have on file about you
- Have us fix information that is wrong
- Request that we erase your data
- Opt out of certain kinds of data processing
